In his comments at the meeting, incumbent mayor John Paterson points to his experience as a key aspect of his re-election bid.

“The experience, the contacts that I’ve got is really what I’m trying to push to people to say, ‘look, if you want somebody to lead this community forward it should be me,'” says Paterson. “I would do my utmost to work with my new council, hold the line on taxes and keep things moving forward in a very positive way.”

Challenger Charlie Wright wanted to make sure he got across the key pillars of his platform to the audience.¬†“My platform is maintain a zero tax [increase] for the people of Leamington. My platform is to reform council and make it more efficient.”
