Windsor Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging residents to check the smoke alarms in their house during fire prevention week.

Smoke alarms should be located on every level of the home and outside all sleeping areas.

Assistant Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says they will be spreading the message far and wide this week. “Throughout the week we have fire truck appearances scheduled at grocery stores throughout the city, recreational facilities, Shoppers Drug Marts. There’s truck tours and gear demonstrations at Tecumseh Mall, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday we will be at Devonshire Mall.”

Windsor fire also visited the homes of people served by Meals on Wheels last week to check for working smoke alarms as part of their community outreach for fire prevention week.
