Windsor Spitfires Celebrating 40 Years

The Windsor Spitfires hockey team is celebrating 40 years this season.

The team was first accepted into the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League on February 10, 1975.

Dave Ducharme with the team says they will be celebrating throughout the season by honouring the memory of great coaches and players from years past. “We’re going to certainly recognize the people that have come before us and the achievements and the friendships and the memories through those people. We’re going to try to incorporate as many people as we can from eras gone by.”

The celebrations begin with a large parking lot party on opening night September 26 when the Spitfires take on the Erie Otters. Throughout the season the team will also have theme nights each honouring a different decade of Spitfire hockey.
