Enwin Warns Of Phone Scam

September 17, 2014 9:44am
Enwin Utilities has a warning for its customers after some received a call threatening to cut off their power if they didn’t pay up immediately.
The customers are told to pay via electronic wire transfer or credit card, and then call a 1-800 number that connects them to a bogus hydro billing department.
Enwin says it doesn’t carry out collections in this manner and doesn’t accept electronic wire transfers or credit card payments over the phone. Enwin also offers customers in arrears multiple payment options.
The utility asks anyone who thinks they may have been taken by the fraud to call Windsor Police Services.
