The Windsor Stars need a lot of help to finish the season as the inaugural League1 Ontario champions.

Stars owner and interim coach Vancho Cirovksi says the message to the lockroom doesn’t change ahead of Saturday night’s game against the Vaughan Azzurri just because they’re a longshot to win the trophy.

“You say the same things that you would say at the beginning, I mean this is really about the character and the culture of the program,” says Cirovski. “You don’t give up, you play to win. Every single player on this team is highly competitive.”

The Stars need to win their remaining four games to have a shot at topping the table to be crowned League1 Ontario champions. A draw or a TFC Academy win will knock the Stars out of the title race.

The Stars play the Vaughan Azzurri at McHugh Park in Windsor for 7pm on Saturday.
