Pelee Water All Clear

Water on Pelee Island is now fine to drink and bathe in.

The municipal system’s water has always been safe, but now Mayor Rick Masse says well water is clear of blue-green algae toxins.

“We got the results late last night,” explains Masse. “Those results indicated that there are no traces of microcystin in the wells. There are still traces in the lake itself, but they’re well below the World Health Organization standard.”

Masse says the island’s beaches are also re-opened, although an advisory is still in place for those with special health needs such as liver, kidney or skin diseases.
