LaSalle Recognizes Local Rower

Catherine Multari is the latest to receive LaSalle’s Citizen Award for her achievement in finishing third at the NCAA Rowing Championships with the University of Virginia.
“It’s pretty humbling and I’m very grateful to have that recognition,” says Multari. “I feel like it’s mutual. I’m just as proud to be part of this community as they are of me.”
“I was at one of the gyms this summer and a lot of people down there asked me about it,” says Multari, saying she gets quite a few questions about the sport. “I really encouraged them to try out the LaSalle Rowing Club because it’s something that’s easier to get into than you think and it’s just so much fun.”
Multari was part of the second varsity eight rowing team that beat out Stanford for the final podium spot, making it the first time the University of Virginia second varsity eight has medalled since 2005.
Multari got her start in competitive rowing at Western University in London, then called the University of Western Ontario, before finishing the next three years of her undergraduate education at the University of Virginia.
