Just as a television crew starts filming the construction of a new playground in Leamington, kids in Amherstburg are already enjoying their new park.

Both parks, at the Libro Credit Union Centre in Amherstburg and Chestnut Park in Leamington, will be featured on the TVO children’s show “Giver” next spring.

The crew wrapped up construction and opened the new all-inclusive playground at the Libro Credit Union Centre Tuesday. Producer Rennata Lopez says a group of about 60 volunteers worked non-stop to build it over three days. “We wanted to do a playground that every child could play on,” she says.

The Amherstburg project is the TV show’s 31st park.

The show provides a $10,000 grant, and manager of business development and projects, Rick Daly says thanks to donations from the community, it won’t cost taxpayers anything.
