Giant cold air character balloons are taking over downtown Windsor this weekend for Balloonapalooza.

Downtown Windsor BIA Chair Larry Horwitz sponsors and vendors really stepped forward this year to make the event possible.

“The different types of balloons, the costumes, the train is fun, the colouring boards are really exciting, the car show this year might be the highlight. But I think all together it becomes a great fun time.”

The festival also features a midway, a classic car show, live music and interactive kids activities. There is no admission charge for the festival which runs today and tomorrow.

Many downtown streets are closed for the festival including Ouellette Ave. from Riverside Dr. to Park St. and parts of Pitt St., Chatham St., Ferry St. and University Ave.
