The Town of Amherstburg’s planning department opens its doors today in a new location, the Libro Centre on Meloche Rd.

The move has been in the works for the past couple of weeks, and manager of special projects Karen Jacques says it will improve customer service for all residents. “We have some accessibility concerns with their current location in the basement at town hall,” she says. “The move to the Libro Centre does provide them with a space that is much more conducive to customer service for people of all abilities.”

The switch to the Libro Centre is not expected to cost taxpayers anything since the town is using existing resources to move to the new location.

Eventually, the town could move other services in its economic and community development department to the Libro Centre, including special projects, economic development and procurement.
