A number of recommendations to improve Windsor’s waterfront are coming before council tonight.

Staff is recommending issuing an request for proposal to hire an engineer to prepare a design for a pedestrian crossing and improving lighting and washroom facilities.

City Engineer Mario Sonego says another 40 recommendations came out of the latest round of public consultation on the Central Riverfront Implementation Plan. “You’ve got different opinions from people who want active to passive and as I said in the report and as the consultant said you’ve got such a long riverfront there you can have both and you’ll see both uses down there currently.”

There is currently $4.75 million set aside from the 2013 and 2014 capital budgets for improvements to the waterfront.
