University Faculty Discuss Talks Wednesday

The president of the Windsor University Faculty Association plans to tell members at a meeting today that it’s time to fight back.

Last week, the University of Windsor threatened to impose the terms of employment in itsĀ last contract offer if a deal wasn’t reached by July 28. So far, there’s no tentative deal, but Anne Forrest says it’s hard to say if administration made good on the threat, because faculty won’t get paid until the end of the month.

Forrest says historically, the two sides have always collaborated to find the best deal for both the university and its faculty, but not this time. “It violates that whole history which has been very deep, and very long at the University of Windsor,” she says. “Certainly what I’m going to be saying is that I find it very insulting and that we need to push back.”

Forrest isn’t ruling out a future strike vote.

The meeting is at 4pm at the Fogolar Furlan Club.
