Leamington Pool Project Getting Pricey

Leamington Council approved an additional $75,000 to fix the pool tiling at the Kinsmen Recreation Complex.
Originally $55,000 was budgeted for the project but because of new provincial requirements for public pools the extra funds are needed.
Mayor John Paterson says this will be the largest capital project the pool has under gone since opening in 1985. “A lot of the tile grout is really just disintegrating , it’s leaving some sharp spots where people are getting the odd cut now and again, the inlet fixtures are really worn badly and some of the anchors that are used for the lane ropes, everything needs to be replaced.”
The pool is scheduled to be closed from August 3 to September 14, 2014 for construction and reopened on September 15, 2014. Paterson says yearly pool fees were already reduced at the beginning of the year because staff knew this shut down was going to happen.
