Police are investigating after a police officer was involved in an ATV collision at Windsor’s riverfront.

The Windsor Police Service says on Friday around 6:20pm, the police constable was riding the all terrain vehicle while on patrol, when he was involved in a collision near Bridge Ave. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

Police say the officer is currently in hospital being treated for injuries sustained in the crash. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The name of the officer is not being released as family are still being notified.

Police have closed Riverside Dr. W between Randolph Ave. and Bridge Ave. while officers are at the scene conducting their investigation. The road is expected to remain closed until approximately 6am.
