Man Arrested At Border As Imposter

A Maidstone resident has been arrested for violation of immigration law after he allegedly tried to enter the U.S. with false documents.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says the 50-year-old man was arrested at the Ambassador Bridge on July 11, after being referred for a secondary inspection.

Officers utilized fingerprints, pictures and computer databases to determined the man was an impostor to the documents he presented. It was also discovered that the man has active warrants in Canada and a criminal history that would preclude his entry into the United States.

The CBP says the man refused to provide a statement and was served with an Expedited Removal, which bars him from entering the U.S. for five years. He has since been returned to Canada.
