Holding Government’s Feet To The Fire
Windsor-Essex may no longer have Liberal representation at Queen’s Park, but the region’s newest Member of Provincial Parliament isn’t letting the Wynne government forget about the proposed new acute care hospital.
Windsor West MPP Lisa Gretzky made it the subject of her first question in the legislature. “Will the Minister commit to delivering funding for the new Windsor hospital, or is he planning to delay a project that our community desperately needs?”
The new health minister, Dr. Eric Hoskins did not commit to funding, but did remind the legislature the government has already committed funding towards the proposal process. “We’ve invested, Mr. Speaker, $2.5-million towards the preliminary planning process — to develop the scope and governance.”
Since the election, some have speculated the government would withhold funding for the new hospital and other projects. After the election, Premier Kathleen Wynne reassured voters in Windsor-Essex she would not forget about the region.
