Windsor Ward Three Councillor Fulvio Valentinis will not seek re-election for the first time in two decades.

The 65-year-old will instead be on the ballot as a Catholic school board trustee candidate.

Valentinis says it’s been a privilege to serve Ward Three. “Am I going to miss it? Absolutely. But that’s not a reason for staying on. I think 20 years is a long time. I feel I’ve contributed, I’ve been part of (council’s) contribution (to the city), and I want to keep contributing to the community, but I think it’s also a good time to move on.”

Valentinis was elected as a Catholic school board trustee back in 1991 before running for council in 1994. He says the province is looking at accommodation reviews for schools, and he wants to assist in improving that process for the Catholic board.
