Colombian Students Cheering In Windsor

Grade 5 Colombian exchange students are getting a taste of Canada in Windsor.
“I like [it] a lot because I’m with my friends and I can see different people playing,” says Mariana Escobar, the young student taking in the Windsor Stars home opener at McHugh Park on Saturday with about 40 of her Colombian classmates. “In Colombia, most of the people like football and here is like a few, for me it’s different.”
“Very good because in Colombia we see more screaming and all that and here is very good because we are with the fans,” says Pablo Salazar, another of the Colombia exchange students enjoying the Stars soccer game.
“The game is very cool and I like to learn how in different cultures they play soccer,” says Ana-Sofia Herazo, the Colombian exchange student calling her Canadian experience “fabulous.”
The students are attending Academy Ste. Cecile private school and are set to return to Colombia in two weeks.
