Big Basketball Tournament Coming

Thousands of basketball fans from across North America are expected to converge on Windsor at the end of August.
The 10th Annual Filipino Association of North America’s Inter-City Basketball Tournament is expected to attract more than 120 teams from across the continent August 30 and 31. Different venues across the city will host the games including St.Clair College’s new Sportsplex, St.Denis Centre at the University of Windsor and La Jeunesse High School.
Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association chair Larry Horwitz says it’s a coup for the city. “This is an event that’s mostly held in large metropolitan areas, but because of the lobbying effort from the organizers they chose Windsor this year,” he says. “I can tell you, over 5,000 participants is a lot of people, and an economic driver for downtown and for the city as a whole.”
Windsor Pinoy Athletics is hosting the tournament and organizers are looking for about 200 volunteers.
