The Windsor Spitfires have acquired the rights to left winger Luke Kirwan of the Guelph Storm.

In return, the Storm will get the Spitfires’ second round selections in the 2018 and 2019 OHL Priority Selection.

Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel says it’s exciting to pick up the rights to an elite player like Kirwan. “It’s our intention to focus on getting him signed in the coming weeks and making him a member of the Windsor Spitfires.”

Kirwan, who is 6’2″ and 220 lbs, spent the 2013-14 season with the U.S. National Under-17 team, scoring 29 goals and 28 assists. He also had 54 penalty minutes in 54 games. At the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, Kirwan put up six goals and seven assists in seven games.
