Requesting New Fire Truck

Leamington Council is being asked to approve over $700,000 for a new fire truck.

Fire Chief Chuck Parsons says the type of truck is one of the most used pieces of equipment. “It’s the smaller ladder truck that we use as more of a water tower and to get onto the roofs on some of the commercial buildings. It’s good if we can’t get the bigger ladder truck in.”

Parsons says the price tag is a little higher than budgeted, but there’s enough money in a contingency reserve to cover the cost overrun.

He says if the aging vehicle is not replaced, it could cause home and commercial insurance rates to increase in the area.
