The Windsor Stars are set to play their first ever game in League1 Ontario on the road against Toronto International on Saturday with kick-off set for 1pm.

Stars Head Coach Steve Vagnini says the team has come together well ahead of their first match and wants his players to keep focused.

“Play minute by minute and other than that, the game day approach has been pretty simple,” says Vagnini. “The guys are relaxed and they’re excited, which is good to see from a coaching point of view.”

It’s the inaugural season for the ten team league which sits two steps below MLS on the Canadian Soccer Association league pyramid. The season is 18 games with the team finishing with the most points at the end being crowned champions.

The league had its first game on Friday between Toronto FC Academy and Durham FC.
