World Class Diving in Windsor

News conference to kick off the WIndsor leg of the FINA Diving World Series at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.

The FINA Diving World Series is coming to the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre this weekend.

Windsor is one of six stops on the tour that hosts 70 of the world’s best divers from 14 countries. The event will be making a stop in Windsor for the next four years.

Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis says it’s great for Windsor’s profile to be included among cities like Moscow and Beijing. ‘It increases the profile of the city on a global stage, it increases the profile of the city and the brand of the city within the swimming community and finally allows us to develop a program of diving here in the city for our young athletes to develop so that the next Olympians can be trained here as opposed to somewhere else.”

The FINA competitions take place Friday through Sunday, admission is $20, kids under 12 get in free with an adult. Events include women’s and men’s 3-metre springboard, 10-metre platform and synchro diving.
