Parents Fight To Keep Riverside Pool

Windsor community members are fighting to find a way to keep the pool open at Riverside High School.
Local parents are encouraging the Greater Essex County District School Board to talk with the City of Windsor to find a solution that will preserve the pool. They have also presented board trustees with a 150-signature petition to keep the pool open.
Steve Lutsch, whose son is on the school’s swim team, says there are ways to keep the pool open that could benefit the city.
“The city is watching the bottom line. So if there’s a way for them to provide a training facility and a pool on the east side to service the residents on the east-side of Windsor, which is a pretty good growing area of the city,…. I don’t think they wouldn’t look at it,” says Lutsch.
The pool is slated to close in June, at the end of the school year. The school board says the facility costs roughly $70,000 a year to operate and needs $500,000 in upgrades for additional seating.
