Finding Money for ImprovementsMay 26, 2014 5:10am
City of Windsor administration is recommending a new governance model for transportation services in the city.
The recommended model could see a savings of around $500,000 a year by finding efficiencies among Transit Windsor, Windsor International Airport and the Windsor Tunnel Corporation.
CAO Helga Reidel says if approved, Transit Windsor would become a city department. “The airport and the tunnel would keep a board of directors pretty much exactly as it is now. Transit Windsor would become a department of the city and through doing that we would reduce the senior management structure across the organizations.”
The move was encouraged by Windsor Council in an effort to find savings to implement improvements to Transit Windsor. If approved, the consolidation would take around two years to complete.
