Police Surround Car After Weapon Reported

A man has been charged following a major traffic stop involving the Windsor police tactical team.

The Windsor Police Service says on Saturday around 7:30pm, uniformed officers and the police tactical team stopped, and surrounded a vehicle near the corner of Riverside Dr. W and Church St. in Windsor.  Police say they performed the traffic stop after receiving a report that an unknown weapon had been brandished during an earlier confrontation between the occupants of the suspect vehicle and another vehicle.

There were four male occupants in the vehicle at the time of the stop, but police only arrested one 21-year-old man who has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say no weapon was found when the vehicle was searched.
