City Evaluating New Tree Bylaw

The City of Windsor will be discussing the possibility of a new tree cutting bylaw in the near future.

Some councillors believe it’s needed because of a recent incident with the Greek community clearing a woodlot on their property.

Councillor Alan Halberstadt says there are many examples around the province. “Generally the way the bylaws have been put together in other communities it’s the size of the tree and the age of the tree. I mean we’re not going to start saying you have to take a permit out on a small tree. No these are big oak trees, et cetra.”

Any bylaw still needs to be debated by council.
