CUPE 4580 Ratifies AgreementMay 22, 2014 8:57pm
About 90% of teaching and graduate assistants at the University of Windsor are in favour of a new three-year contract.
CUPE Local 4580 members held a ratification vote late Thursday afternoon.
Local union president Mia Sisic is satisfied with the deal. She explains that many key issues, including terms of employment, remain status quo. Sisic says it’s important to get this contract in place because many of the 1,200 TAs and GAs are also students, and these jobs are their main source of income throughout the year.
The agreement will not become official until the university’s board of governors ratifies the deal as well. Sisic hopes that will happen within the next few days.
