A call about a suspicious man led Windsor police to a fast arrest after a break-in at a popular music store.

Police were called to investigate an alarm at Long and McQuade on Walker Rd. around 6:05am Friday. Two minutes later, police received a tip from a caller who says a man offered him a guitar in exchange for a ride out of the area.

By 6:30am, the suspect was arrested in an alley in the 1500-block of Lincoln Rd. while allegedly dragging a garbage can containing three guitars.

During the investigation, police discovered five guitars and two amplifiers missing from the store. Even the garbage can was stolen. Officers are still looking for two guitars and one amplifier.

Michael Pontich, 45, is charged with break and enter, theft, and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Police also want to know about a woman seen with the suspect and ask anyone with information to call them at 255-6700 ext. 4350, or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS). Tips can also be submitted online at www.catchcrooks.com or on Facebook.
