New Leamington Church Moves Ahead
The drawings for the new St. Michael’s Parish in Leamington are finished and now the efforts turn to fundraising.
The new church will be built in the same Elliot St. location as the current building and construction will begin in July.
Father Patrick Fuerth says the committee wasn’t happy with the first set of drawings, but is happy with the changes the architect has made. “It looks like a church with some gothic shape to it. It has red brick and a beautiful entrance way with a terraced look to it.” The new church will cost $7-million and take one year to build.
A concert featuring the Canadian Tenors on May 22 at the Heinz Arena is the first major fundraising the group has held.
