Statistics Canada reports a big jump in Windsor’s unemployment rate.
It was 8.4% last month, an increase of 1.1% from March when the agency reported a rate of 7.3%.
Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey says 28,900 jobs across Canada unexpectedly disappeared in April. However, the national rate remained unchanged at 6.9% suggesting some Canadians have given up the search for employment.
The provincial unemployment rate increased slightly to 7.4%, an increase of a tenth of a percent.
