A 22-year-old man faces charges after an incident outside Assumption College Catholic High School triggered a hold and secure.

Windsor police say a group of students was heading to the McDonalds on Huron Church Rd. around 11:15am Tuesday, when a man with a knife started chasing them. They escaped, but the suspect told a second group of students he would be “waiting until lunch is over.”

Half an hour later, students returning to the school told staff about a man with a knife coming towards the school, so officials implemented a hold and secure and called police. The suspect left when staff told him he couldn’t enter the building.

Police found a folding knife in front of the school and arrested a suspect in the 1000-block of Dot Ave.

Police charged Ahmad Othman with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and uttering threats.
