TWEPI Moving Into Amherstburg Visitors Centre

Amherstburg Mayor Wayne Hurst, February 3, 2014.

Tourism Windsor-Essex and Pelee Island will take over the Amherstburg Visitors Centre.

Amherstburg Council unanimously backed the move which will keep open the centre that was set for closure as a result of budget talks.

“When he comes with this particular idea, it was really a wonderful offer, one that we could not say no to,” says Wayne Hurst, the Amherstburg mayor commenting on being approached by TWEPI CEO Gordon Orr about taking over operation of the centre. “It’s going to serve of course the town of Amherstburg and of course the region itself.”

Amherstburg is set to save about $8,000.
