Local Wines Hitting The Markets

Essex County wines will soon be available at farmers markets in Windsor and Amherstburg.

New provincial regulations came into effect this week, allowing VQA wines to be sold at farm markets, and local wineries will be taking advantage of it.

Cooper’s Hawk Owner Tom O’Brien says several wines will be available each market day. “Not every winery is going to do it because some have conflicts or are busy on the weekends. But, there’s going to be at least eight or nine of the wineries that will be selling this summer at the Windsor Farmers Market and the Amherstburg Farmers Markets.”

O’Brien says the wines should be available at the two markets beginning May 24.
