Leamington Council is making positive progress through the municipal Strategic Plan, according to Mayor John Paterson.

Leamington’s current plan was created on May 9, 2011 and Paterson feels one of the highlights is the completion of their financial plan.

“I know it sounds very simple, but it’s been really three and a half years of a lot of overtime work put in by our finance department,” says Paterson, adding the Heinz closure wasn’t planned for, but feels council has taken appropriate action. “We have buffered ourselves for the time being and we’ll see in the next year or two what really will transpire.”

Council will receive an update on the plan at its meeting set for 6pm on Monday in Council Chambers at Leamington’s Municipal Building.
