LaSalle Council Pleased With Budget
LaSalle’s keeping this year’s tax increase just under 1%.
“We expected that the (Essex) county would account for a certain percentage, and they actually came in below that. So it wasn’t substantial, but we did save an additional $21,000,” says Mayor Ken Antaya. “What council did, instead of reducing the municipal portion even further, they took that $21,000 and put it into capital expenses for 2014.”
LaSalle Town Council has yet to attend to its capital expenditures, but money has been put aside. Antaya says they’ll get to those decisions in May.
The 0.99% overall tax increase will add about $20 per year onto the bill for a home valued at $200,000.
