The Windsor Express are NBL Canada champions with a 121-106 game seven victory over the Island Storm.

After coming back from two-games down in a series against London to win in the semi-finals, the Express have come back from a 3-1 series deficit to take the league title.

Windsor Forward Chris Commons, who chipped in with 20 points on the night, says his team is made of survivors. “This has just been an incredible journey, an incredible run, and we wanted to cap it off special. We focussed on primarily what we’ve been best at all year, and that’s defence. You see what Stef (Bonneau) can do, you see our offence, that was never a concern, we just wanted to come out here and give our all.”

Express Guard Stefan Bonneau was named playoff MVP as he lead his team’s game seven offence, pouring in 32 points.

A record Windsor Express crowd of 3,470 people watched the team win its first championship in just its second season of existence.
