The Town of Leamington is warning residents to get outstanding parking tickets paid up before they implement the plate denial program in May.

Starting May 1, the town will send all unpaid tickets to the province and people will not be able to have their license plates renewed until the fines are paid.

Director of Corporate Services Brian Sweet says once the tickets are passed on to the province there is an extra $20 fine. “If you think that you may have an outstanding parking ticket, call the town hall and we’ll look it up and we will tell you if you do and how much is owing.”

Sweet says the payment of outstanding parking tickets could generate $15,000-$20,000 in revenue for the town.
