Two 18-year-old Lakeshore men have been taken to hospital after their jet ski overturned near Belle River.

Leamington OPP say around 2:15pm on Sunday, the two men were riding the jet ski on Lake St. Clair from Pike Creek to Belle River, when it became disabled and high waves flipped the two men into the cold waters. The water temperature at the time was around 1 C (34 F).

One of the men was able to contact his father who then contacted police. The OPP marine unit was dispatched and officers were able to pull the men from the lake.

Police say the men were treated in a Windsor hospital for hypothermia. One of the men is in temporary critical but stable condition and the other man is in satisfactory condition.
