Massive Marsh Fire In LaSalle

After a fire broke out on an island in Turkey Creek, LaSalle firefighters were forced to take a boat to extinguish a large marsh fire on the shoreline.

Fire Chief Dave Sutton says around 20 firefighters attended the blaze around 2pm on Saturday. He says fire crews were on the scene for around two hours, behind an area in the 200-block of Front Rd. and River Villa.

Sutton says there were no injuries in the fire, and the LaSalle Fire Service was able to prevent any damage to the homes in the surrounding area.
