Officials from the Detroit Police Department and the U.S. Coast Guard say they rescued a woman from the Detroit River.

A security guard called the coast guard around 5:30pm Wednesday to report a woman in the water near the UAW-Ford National Programs Centre on W.Jefferson Ave.

Police were the first on the scene, soon followed by coast guard officials from the Coast Guard Station Belle Isle.

The woman was conscious but unresponsive. Within 25 minutes, she was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital where she was treated for hypothermia. The woman is expected to survive.
