The new St. Clair College SportsPlex will host its first event this weekend when the provincial gymnastics tournament comes to town.

Hosted by Rose City Gymnastics, the event will bring in 1,300 athletes and their families and coaches to the city.

Ron Seguin, vice president of global education and training at St. Clair College, says the facility is ready to host its first event. “We’d like to be a little cleaner in terms of construction, but all the important things are done. We’ll open up for this event then we’re going to shut it down for about three or four weeks to work on all the aesthetics and the minor additions that have to be made.”

Seguin says winter weather caused some delays for the project but it came in on budget.
