Man Arrested After Standoff

A member of the Windsor Police Emergency Services Unit escorts suspect from house on Pierre Ave. after three hour standoff.

A male suspect is in custody and a female in hospital after an assault led to a police stand-off this morning.

Around 9am this morning, police received a call about a woman who appeared to be injured on Pierre Ave. being followed by a male.

Windsor Police Service Sergeant Matthew D’Asti says the man retreated into a residence before police arrived. “It was unclear at the beginning of this call whether or not there could be weapons in the residence as a result of that information that needed to be verified the Emergency Services Unit was utilized. ESU attended the scene and we cordoned off an area.”

The suspect was arrested without incident after almost three hours. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries but received several staples to close the wound on the back of her head. It is unknown what their relationship is at this time. Charges are pending.
