The harsh winter made for a busy few months for emergency services across Windsor-Essex.

The Essex County OPP haven’t been spared, but Inspector Glen Miller says it hasn’t meant an increase in overtime costs. “That’s an efficiency we look at, at all times. Our (commanding officers) do a great job ensuring our policing costs stay as low as possible.”

Leamington OPP alone responded to 82 collisions in January, 20 crashes more than any month since provincial police took over policing in the town.

As well, following one storm earlier this month Essex County OPP responded to over 80 collisions that day alone.
