Despite its cancellation back in January due to extreme weather conditions, the 2014 Kingsville Polar Bear Dip is a success.

Around 150 dippers plunged into the cold waters at Cedar Island Beach for the rescheduled event on Saturday afternoon. The participants raised $90,000, which will be split between two organizations; Access County Community Support Services and ChildCan.

“I’m really impressed with the way people came through, especially given the terrible winter we had this year,” says Jenna Foley, executive director of Access. “When I saw everyone out (on Saturday) and everyone was in such great spirits, it was a really great atmosphere.”

The two organizations will use the funds raised to help low-income families in Windsor, and to help families facing childhood cancer across southwestern Ontario.
