Mulcair Calling Post Removal Insane (VIDEO)

NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair talks to CUPW members at the Coboto Club in Windsor, March 20, 2014.

The federal NDP leader is making door-to-door postal service a priority.

Thomas Mulcair spoke at a CUPW town hall meeting Thursday at the Coboto Club in Windsor. He says Canada Post has been profitable 16 of the last 17 years, the only one it wasn’t came in 2011; the same year the Harper government locked out postal workers. “Look, it’s just insane to say that you can’t deliver the mail anymore in Canada,” explains Mulcair. “And it’s not an excuse to say that a lot of people are working online. That’s not the point. It’s the same in every other OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) country, and yet Stephen Harper is the only leader not capable of delivering the mail.”

Mulcair says there’s a report outlining potential improvements which could be made at Canada Post to increase service and revenue, but the Conservative government is blacking-out 600 of the 700 pages.

The official opposition leader plans to reinstate door-to-door postal service if the New Democratic Party is elected in 2015.
