Flu Season Comes To End

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is declaring flu season officially over, as it’s only recorded one case in the last month.

Data shows 173 confirmed influenza cases in the region this season. Of those, 47 ended up in hospital while eight people died. The health unit can’t say whether or not it was the flu which caused any of the deaths.

This year’s flu affected just 24 more people than last year’s virus, although it hit the younger population harder than usual this time around.

Vaccinations were also up in Windsor-Essex, as 139,000 people took the needle over last year’s 125,000.
