Council Considers Willistead Park Improvements

Some Windsor residents are hoping council will decide to put a hold on plans to add new pathways to Willistead Park.

City administration is recommending widening the existing paths and adding additional asphalt paths to improve accessibility of the park.

Howard Weeks, head of the Save Willistead Park initiative, says more public consultation is needed before any improvements move forward. “We don’t see the rush. The park has been like it has been for forever and so if it takes a little bit longer to make sure everything is done properly, to make sure the flora and the fauna are looked after, than so be it.”

Weeks is concerned the additional paths will harm the natural heritage features of the park. He expects a large crowd to appear before council tonight on the issue.
