Windsor police invite those who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired to register their cell phones for a new 911 service.

Texting with 911 isn’t available yet in the Windsor area, but police ask those users to call their wireless service providers in preparation.

Police will make an announcement when the service is available. Right now, voice calling is the only way those with hearing and speaking disabilities can communicate with 911 dispatch.
