UPDATE: Heavy rain possible in Sarnia-Lambton

Environment Canada said Friday that significant rainfall is possible over the weekend.

The weather agency issued a special weather statement saying an approaching low-pressure system will bring rain, heavy at times, through Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Total amounts of 30 millimetres to 40 millimetres are possible with the heaviest rain occurring overnight Saturday, tapering to scattered showers by midday Sunday.

Rainfall warnings are not expected to be issued.

Both the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority issued flood outlook, water safety statements Friday. Significant flooding is not expected but residents are reminded to use caution near all watercourses.

A frost advisory was also in effect for Sarnia-Lambton Friday night into Saturday morning.

The overnight low at Chris Hadfield Airport dipped to -2 C, 28 F.
